In this latest News & Notes, Comcast changes its name, WLUP changes its Girl, WIIL wants you to suck face, the Randy Salerno Foundation is bowling for dollars, WLPR informs the public about a bridge too far, and a Duji doozy. It's all below...

* * Comcast, the mega-company that delivers most of the cable service to Chicagoland and who will soon own NBC, is changing their name. Very soon, it will no longer be called Comcast, but Xfinity. Really. Xfinity. Apparently, some focus group somewhere liked it. This more than likely means the popular Comcast SportsNet will have to change its name & logo to Xfinity SportsNet and hope its many announcers can handle saying it. Comcast/Xfinity will not waste anytime making the name change. It takes effect at the end of next week, on February 12th. A full-on marketing blitz begins in a few days with print ads, radio spots and TV commercials during the Winter Olympics. Xciting.

* * It's almost that time again. The Loop is getting ready to begin its extensive search for the 2010 Loop Rock Girl. This year, the prize package has been upped to $75,000, too. Ladies, if you think you are hot enough to be WLUP's spokesmodel for a year, click on this link HERE next Monday the 8th. That is when all of the details about how to submit your online entries will be revealed. XXXciting.

* * Just in time for Valentines Day, it is the 6th Annual WIIL-FM and Tom & Lisa Morning Show "Longest Lip Lock Contest." As the name implies, the couple who can kiss the longest, wins valuable prizes. To enter the contest, first, make sure your partner really likes you enough to be face-locked with you for a long period of time, and second, send a sappy love story about you two lovebirds to love(at)95wiilrock.com. Get that story in to 95WIIL Rock by 5:00pm February 10th to be considered. The contestants that are chosen will then gather on Friday, February 12th at Erica's Fine Jewelry, in the Prime Outlets Mall in Pleasant Prairie. Starting soon after 6:00am, it's time to pucker up to win. The prize package includes a $4,000 diamond ring, dinner for two and movie tickets. Hopefully, they will throw in a couple of Chapsticks, as well.

* * Randy Salerno, the late news anchor for WBBM-TV and radio co-host with Garry Meier on WCKG, passed away just over two years ago in a snowmobiling accident. A pair of charitable organizations, set up in his name -- the Randy Salerno Foundation and Randy's Remember U -- will be having a fundraiser later this month. The event is being called ""Strike a Chord" and it will take place on Saturday, February 27th at the Brunswick Zone Algonquin (2075 Algonquin Rd., Algonquin) from 8:00pm to 1:00am. It will combine a few of Randy's favorite pastimes: bowling, karaoke and pizza. There will be fun for all and prizes for a few! Tickets for the event are $50 for bowling, karaoke and pizza and $20 for just karaoke and pizza. All proceeds will go to Randy's foundation. Space is limited, though. To register, visit this link HERE.

* * For those of you in northern Indiana or who have to travel there, Lakeshore Public Public Radio, aka The Lakeshore 89.1 FM, will be presenting live news coverage of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Cline Avenue Bridge Public Hearing on Tuesday, February 9th. The broadcast of the meeting will be coming live from the East Chicago Central High School Auditorium at 3:30pm on WLPR-FM and online at TheLakeshoreFM.com. In November, INDOT closed the portion of the bridge over the Indiana Harbor and Ship Canal due to safety concerns, which has impacted travel in that area.

* * Duji, the sidekick of former WCKG morning host Rover, was off of Rover's show for a few days. ("Rover's Morning Glory" may be gone from Chicago, but it is still on in Cleveland -- a town filled with former Chicago radio stars.) Duji, whose real name is Susan Catanese, is a Chicago native who used to work with Kevin Matthews in Chicago radio. It was Kev that gave Susan the nickname of "Duji." The reason for Duji's absence from Rover's show was revealed earlier today by Cleveland's CBS19 News. It turns out that Rover & Duji had a secret long-term romance (which included the time the show was based out of Chicago) that ended a couple of years ago when Rover was caught cheating. They continued to work together, but recent tension between the two over their respective dating partners boiled over. She was gone from the show and removed from the website for a couple of days. Tensions have calmed down and she returned to the show Wednesday morning. That's your Duji update.
