As first mentioned HERE before anywhere else, JBTV -- Chicago's longest-running independent television program dedicated to new, local, independent and alternative music and artists -- is going nationwide. A start date for the nationwide broadcast has now been finalized. Originally believed to be starting in late January, it will now begin on February 18th.

As part of NBCUniversal's plan to take their regional "Nonstop" digital sub-channels and turn them into the new NBC Nonstop Network, Chicago's JBTV has been selected to be shown nationally on the new network.

The one hour music video & interview program will now be seen in multiple major markets across the country on the new NBC Nonstop Network. Starting next month, JBTV will be seen each Saturday night at 10:00pm in Chicago, New York City/north New Jersey/Connecticut, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco/San Jose/Bay Area, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Miami/South Florida, Philadelphia, Delaware, Washington D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. The NBC ‘Nonstop’ digital sub-channel is available free over-the-air and via digital television, and through national cable carriers Comcast, Time Warner, WOW!, Cox, Verizon FIOS and RCN.

Jerry Bryant founded JBTV in 1984. It has been a showcase for local Chicago and national music talent for over 27 years, reaching iconic status in local music circles. Bryant himself hosted and funded the program for 24 straight years. In early 2010, the show underwent a major revamp (first mentioned HERE), adding Chicago music entrepreneur Christian Picciolini as General Manager and Executive Producer, as well as former WKQX-FM/Q101 star and current SiriusXM Howard Stern 101 personality Ryan Manno as host. The new & improved JBTV launched in mid-March 2010, in time to kick off the program's 25th year. Other co-hosts, including Jenna Martinelli, Tobias Jeg, Brendan Kelly, Nicole Marsel, Jamal Neff and Tanner Rittenhouse have since been added to conduct interviews and add content. Jerry Bryant continues to host classic segments on each week's show, contributes to interviews, and still supervises all content.

Both before and after its upgrade, JBTV has won multiple Emmy awards and been nominated for many more.

JBTV has produced and aired over 3,800 episodes and featured thousands of up & coming musical artists. Among the little-known artists that JBTV has helped spotlight include: Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Dave Matthews Band, Garbage, Ministry, Alanis Morissette, and more recently Silversun Pickups, The Gaslight Anthem, AWOLNATION, and Fitz & the Tantrums. The list of critically acclaimed-artists who have had their careers boosted by being giving rare Chicago exposure to their work on JBTV numbers in the many hundreds.

All of the shows are produced from the state-of-the-art JBTV studios here in Chicago. In addition to attracting some of modern rocks top acts to appear on the show, JBTV's studios offer audio and video production capabilities for artists, bringing JBTV to the attention of artists from well beyond just the Chicago market. SiriusXM's "The Abe Kanan Show" records all of its programs from a room within the JBTV studios.

JBTV currently airs locally several times each week on broadcast, cable and satellite television, both on WMAQ-TV's digital sub-channel Chicago Nonstop and on WJYS-TV. (For a complete list of JBTV air times and outlets, visit the schedule page on the JBTV website.) Full episodes and show clips are also available on the website, JBTVonline.com, on the JBTV YouTube Channel, and as a free download on iTunes.

Jerry Bryant's show has been an underground smash in Chicagoland for nearly 27 years. Finally, major markets all across the country will be able to experience the highly-regarded program.
