WIND-AM's afternoon drive host Steve Cochran has always been a big fan of golf and a big fan of of our country's military. This summer, he gets to combine both of those passions as he will be hosting the Honor Flight Chicago Golf Outing.
The Honor Flight Chicago Golf Outing, hosted by Cochran, will take place on June 14th at the Bolingbrook Golf Club (2001 Rodeo Drive, Bolingbrook, IL).

Those who register will be able to play 18 holes of golf with an included golf cart, receive an AM 560 WIND gift bag, be served a lunch, be able to attend the Awards banquet/dinner, and participate in the silent auctions and raffles. For an additional fee, a few lucky participants will be able to be part of a foursome led by Steve Cochran himself, or one led by WIND-AM's morning show co-host Amy Jacobson. WIND-AM's local weekday hosts Cochran, Jacobson and Big John Howell will all be on site that day, to spend time with the participants.
Most importantly, proceeds from the registration fees and from the auctions/raffles goes toward supporting Honor Flight Chicago, a non-profit organization founded in 2008 to recognize World War II veterans with a day of honor, remembrance, and celebration. Honor Flight Chicago honors these World War II veterans by paying for them to take a trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C.
The Honor Flight Chicago website estimates that there are approximately 22,000 World War II Veterans in the Chicago area alone -- many of which have never been properly thanked or honored after they arrived home from war. So far, Honor Flight Chicago has been able to send almost 3,000 WWII vets to the Washington D.C. memorial.
In a statement, Steve Cochran said: "We lose almost a thousand World War II vets each day. Time is running out to pay the honor due them."

After over ten years on WGN-AM (as well as time on a few other local stations), Cochran signed on with WIND-AM
last August, beginning his on-air work there
last October. He can be heard each weekday afternoon from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
