In today's News & Notes, we look at a new website for WBEZ, where the Sun-Times' Stella Foster has been, where the Reader's Mick Dumke has gone, where the Tribune's Amy Simons is going, what WGN-TV's Robert Jordan does in his spare time, where WGN-AM's Greg Jarrett is heading to, what WIND-AM's Geoff Pinkus is doing Friday night, and just what the heck happened to the WIIL-FM van...

* * Chicago Public Media's WBEZ recently started up a whole new website dedicated to just music. The WBEZ Music website features news, commentary, reviews, videos, interviews, links to Jim DeRogatis' columns and much more. It currently has all of the Pitchfork Music festival wrap-ups you can possibly want. Check it out!

* * For the second time in under a year, the Sun-Times' columnist Stella Foster has been missing from the paper. The first time she was gone for a couple of months was because of recuperating from surgery on her wrist to help with her carpel tunnel syndrome. Since early June, she has been out due to her recuperating from having surgery on her knee. She hopes to be back to writing her columns any day now.

* * Mick Dumke, the Chicago Reader's Associate Editor and political writer, as well as blogger on the Reader website's Clout City Blog, has left the weekly alternative newspaper. As of this week, Dumke is now writing for the Chicago News Cooperative, the upstart local news organization made up of some of Chicago's finest journalists formerly of Chicago's more traditional news sources (especially the Chicago Tribune). Michael "Mick" Dumke had been an employee of the Reader since 2007 and writing for them since 2005. He will continue writing about local politics for the CNC.

* * The Chicago Tribune's Amy Simons will soon be leaving the company. Simons, who is currently a Digital News Editor for the company and previously was an Executive Producer at CLTV, will soon be heading back down to her alma mater, the University of Missouri, where she will now be part of the Mizzou faculty.

* * WGN-TV's Robert Jordan was written about in the newest issue "Private Wealth Magazine." The magazine's article focused on one of Jordan's side jobs, that of his company Video Family Biographies, which produces documentary movies showcasing a families history & legacy. You can read the online version of the article at this link HERE.

* * WGN-AM's morning host Greg Jarrett will broadcasting his show live from McGonigal's Pub in Barrington this Friday, July 23rd. (McGonigal's Pub is located at 105 S. Cook St. in Barrington.) It is part of WGN's Hometown Voices Tour. Jarrett will be live from 5:00am-9:00am. Stop by to meet Greg and get a free continental breakfast.

* * McGonigal's Pub is also often heard mentioned on the air on Geoff Pinkus' Sunday radio show on WIND-AM. Geoff Pinkus himself has a big event happening on Friday, too, but not at McGonigal's this time. Geoff Pinkus will be hosting "Puffin' On The Patio" at Morton's Steakhouse (located at 9525 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Rosemont) this Friday night from 6:00pm-8:00pm. It will be a special night featuring chilled cocktails and Morton's signature hors d'oeuvres, along with plenty of the new Pinker Gurkha cigars, all enjoyed on Morton's brand new outdoor patio. Geoff "the Pinker" Pinkus will be on hand, as will Gary "Gurkha Boy" Macchione. One price of $65 per person covers all your drinks, eats, tips and taxes -- plus $5 from every paid admission will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. To make a reservation for a fun night out, contact Morton's Jill Koss by calling 847-678-3455 or e-mailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. * * Anybody know a good windshield repair shop in southern Wisconsin or northern Illinois? WIIL-FM needs one for their van now. Duco, from the 95WIILRock morning show, was driving the station van to a WIIL appearance at The Cave in Pell Lake with morning show hosts Tom & Lisa on Sunday morning. On the way there, a large plastic cooler lid, flipped up off of the road and into the windshield of the van, shattering the window in front of Duco's face and spraying him with glass. (At least, that's Duco's story and he's stickin' with it.) You can see the end results of the windshield in the pictures below:
