In today's News & Notes, we look at rumors surrounding Mancow, a new festival of Kevin Matthews', an anniversary for Outside The Loop Radio, Comcast SportsNet airs a "retro" ballgame, WMVP & WSCR live remotes, WSCR names a new weekend host, and Chic-A-Go-Go tapes more shows.

* * Is there something big brewing in the Mancow camp? There are rumors swirling of some serious unhappiness at the syndicated, Chicago-based Mancow show. No Chicago outlet, soon to lose its home studios at WLS-AM, declining ratings, declining affiliates, and declining revenues have many worried. There is even strong rumors that this Friday or next Friday's Mancow radio show could be the final one. Mancow could be closing up shop and stopping the show. None of this has been confirmed by anybody at Mancow's team or the syndicator, TRN, but two separate sources are saying this could be the end. Stay tuned...

* * Fans of former Chicago radio personality Kevin Matthews may be happy to hear of a new festival featuring him. Kev-A-Roo 2010 will take place from August 5th-7th at the Eagles Lodge on 3rd Street in Grand Haven, MI. Kev-A-Roo will be held inside a giant beer tent and feature numerous bands over the three days, including many Chicago bands who are friends of Kevin's from his Chicago radio days. The artists schedule are:
August 5: Dave Urhich / Brian Lee / Lubriphonic
August 6: (Noon): Tommy Steele / Late Night Drive
August 6 (6:30): Sweet J / Verve Pipe / Instant Karma
August 7: Domestic Problems / Hello Dave
Cover is only $5 (except for the Friday Noon show, which is free), which goes to various charities. This is the 4th year Matthews and his station WLAV-FM have thrown a Kev-A-Roo bash. No word yet on whether or not Jim Shorts will take the stage.

* * Outside the Loop Radio celebrated its 200th show earlier today on WLUW-FM. For the special show, WGN's Andy Hermann returned to play some special clips of past OTL shows. Mick Dumke, former of the Reader and now with the CNC is also one of the guests. The 200th show for OTL also means this is the 200th podcast! You can catch the podcast on the Outside The Loop Radio website.

* * Former Chicago Cub great Andre Dawson gets inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend. Comcast SportsNet Chicago will be celebrating that induction by airing a classic baseball game of "the Hawk's." On Friday, July 23 at 7:00pm, CSN will re-broadcast a game from August 1, 1987, which Dawson hit three big home runs, beating the Philadelphia Phillies. The game is called by the great team of the late Harry Caray and the "still alive & kicking" Steve Stone. CSN will also be airing plenty of Dawson tributes/discussions/video clips on their programs "Chicago Tribune Live" and "SportsNite" on Friday and all weekend long.

* * ESPN1000's Afternoon Saloon will be doing their show live from Harry Caray's in Wrigleyville (3551 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago) tomorrow from 2:00pm-6:00pm.

* * The Score's Boers & Bernstien will be doing a live remote Friday as well. You can find them at the Cubby Bear North (21661 N. Milwaukee Ave., Lincolnshire) from 1:00pm-6:00pm.

* * Speaking of The Score... WSCR's Mountain Dew Score Search Finale will take place this Saturday at Harry Caray's in Wrigleyville (3551 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago) from 8:00pm-10:00pm. The final auditions for just who will become the station's next weekend host will take place then. To preview the final four contestants, click on this link HERE.

* * Local children's television show Chic-A-Go-Go is taping two more episodes on Sunday and is looking for children who want to dance on TV. The tapings will be from 6:00pm until around 8:00pm at the Chicago Access Network Studios, located at 322 S. Green St. in Chicago (one block west of Halsted, half block north of Van Buren). There will be plenty of special guests on hand for the shows, too. Those interested should quickly email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
